Mermaid Tail Cupcakes

Ingredients Needed:

  • CK Products White Cake Mix
    • Additional ingredients needed for cake mix
      • 1-1/3 Cup Water
      • 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 – 14oz Tubs of Celebakes White Buttercream Icing
  • Sprinkles of Choice
    • Pictured: Celebakes Mermaid Sprinkle Mix
  • Celebakes Gel Color of Choice
    • Pictured: Celebakes Sky Blue Food Color Gel
  • 2 – 1lb bags of Celebakes Bright White Wafers
  • Celebakes Imperial Dust of Choice
    • Pictured: Silver and Gold
  • Celebakes Luster Dust of Choice
    • Pictured Blue and Purple
  • Celebakes Vanilla Flavoring

Supplies Needed:

  • Cupcake Liners of Choice
  • Muffin Pan
  • 2 – Piping Bags
  • Large Star Tip
  • Mermaid Tail Chocolate Mold
  • Tipless Bags
  • Small Paint Brush


  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.  Place one cupcake liner into each cavity of your muffin pan. 
  2. Prepare Celebakes White Cake Mix, following directions on back of bag. 
  3. Pour about 3 tablespoons of batter into each cavity of your muffin pan, filling 2/3 of the way full.
  4. Bake 25-30 minutes.  Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Leave to cool for 10-15 minutes before removing from pan.  Cool cakes completely. 
  5. While your cupcakes are cooling, you can make the Mermaid Tail toppers.
  6. Pour half a bag of Celebakes Bright White Melting Wafers into a microwave safe dish.  Microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until wafers are smooth and completely melted.  Pour melted wafers into a tipless bag. 
  7. Cut tip off bag and fill your Mermaid Tail mold with the melted wafers.  Tap mold to remove any bubbles. 
  8. Place mold into your refrigerator to harden. 
  9. Repeat steps 6-8 until you have made 24 Mermaid Tails. 
  10. Use Celebakes Imperial and Luster Dust to color your chocolate.  It can be mixed with Celebakes Vanilla Flavoring and painted on your Mermaid Tail, using a small paint brush.  Please note, Imperial and Luster Dust are not edible and should be removed before eating.
  11. Next, open one tub of Celebakes White Buttercream Icing and fill a piping bag. Cut off tip.  Pipe a dollop of icing on top of the cupcake and dip the un-set frosting into your sprinkle mix.
  12. Mix your second tub of Celebakes White Buttercream Icing with the Celebakes Gel Color of your Choice.  Place the Large Star decorating tip into your piping bag and fill with the colored Buttercream Icing.  Pipe a dollop on top of the sprinkled frosting.   You can also place a few sprinkles on top of the blue icing dollop and top off with one of the chocolate mermaid tails.
